Stones worth a second look
A lot of what this company does is move stone: boulders into a slope, slabs into steps, rock into a swale. Off the clock, it is the small ones that get picked up. The kind that catch your eye, might be a gem, and usually are not.
We have been running those through our own engine, powered by rainshower, which Tofte Ventures built.
It never names a stone. Each thing you can see or check without harming it rules some possibilities out, and whatever is left gets listed with the test that would tell it apart. A stone that could still be two things is reported as two things, not as the more exciting one.
The recent reports did what they should. Most stones came back ordinary, which is the honest answer for most stones. A handful are worth a closer look. Nothing was identified, because nothing here identifies anything. That part belongs to a lab.
The longer version is on the Tofte Ventures blog.
